I haven't blogged in quite a while. I've had so many adventures and have needed to update for a while. The last update was about the south of spain and soon after I traveled to Barcelona. There, I got my iPhone stolen and was devastated. I heard so much about the pick pocketers and how careful you have to be. And I feel like I've been... almost to the level of paranoia. So I was so mad at myself and the guy that stole it without me noticing, that it nearly ruined the whole trip. Since then, I knew if I blogged about something else, I would have to blog about Barcelona and I wasn't ready to let it go yet. But it happened and it sucked but I moved on. When we got to Barcelona, we went to the beach. Those who know me, know how excited I get for the beach, but this was an even bigger deal than normal. It has been one of my life goals to swim in the mediterranean and barcelona was my first glance at it.
We ran down the beach, and dipped our feet in, regardless of the few people on the beach due to rain earlier that day. I had such a wonderful moment there. Touching my toes in the sand and ocean brought me back to ME. It was the most familiar feeling I had had since being away from home and it was pure joy. We sat around, talked and laughed and were approached by many people trying to sell things. One man came up trying to sell weed and even after we said no bend down close to show it to me. I shoo-ed him and turned away to get him to leave. Somewhere in that moment he reached in my bad beside me and took my phone. I didn't notice it until I had gotten up.
So, I don't have any pictures to show you of Barcelona. We went to see Park Guel by gaudi, the outside of La Sagrada Familia and Las Ramblas. And I had enjoyed it up until that moment.
The part that bothered me the most is that I promised it wasn't going to happen to me. I am also staying well beyond others in the program and was worried about not having a phone to connect to the internet or use as my camera.
So that's that. I don't have much more to say about barcelona, probably because I'm just bitter.
But the places I've been since then and the compassion I've been shown by my peers just a week ago has well surpassed all of that.
Unbelievably... it is our last week here in Madrid! WHHHHAA.
most of my blogs have been about trips since Ive been here but I do want to talk about the program, learning spanish, trying to get by in the city and my internship with the kids. So look out for that next.
But for now, the weather if FINALLY nice! (been no more than 65... 70 if we're lucky) for the whole 10 weeks. It's now mid 80s so I'm going to get some world famous ice cream with the annoying sisters I never had but love haha (Eunji and Vanessa) and find a look out spot over Madrid before dinner with our Professora <3
I'll blog again in a bit.
Be patient with me.
I suck at being consistent with blogging :/
