Bienvenido a España

My journey began at 2:30 a.m. PST on June 29th, 2014. My dad drove me to the San Francisco International Airport for my 6:30 a.m. flight to New York to catch a flight out to Madrid. While I was waiting for the airplane with my dad, I was overwhelmed with feelings of excitement, nervousness, and curiosity.

This was my…

A Week in Advance

It's a week before I leave Spain and I've been trying to figure what I am going to bring over. I've never had to pack for a month abroad, so any advice would be appreciated! It feels so surreal to almost be in the place that I have dreamed of going to since I started studying Spanish. I will try to update my blog as much as I can while I am…

First day in China!

Finals week is finally over and now I’m off to China! It was such a quick transition. I didn’t even have that much time to say goodbye to my friends back in my hometown.

The End, and Epilogue

Clearly, I am not meant for blogging. Over the past several months it has crossed my mind to blog something about my adventures, travels, stories. In the end, I couldn't be bothered.  However, given that I have entered the last 168 hours of my year abroad I figured I would have one final post.

I could write about my last trip to Greece, or staying at the french…

My last month in Madrid

Cena de Despedida (Goodbye Dinner)

A few weeks ago, my program had a goodbye dinner. It was really nice. At the end, I gave a speech, going around the table and saying nice things about everyone in the program. I was happy to do it, especially considering that the best relationships that I have with people in Madrid are with my friends from the program. From the dorms to the trips to nights out in Madrid, we’ve gone through this experience together. It wasn’t really hard to…
